Baby John’ Faces Box Office Catastrophe: Varun Dhawan & Keerthy Suresh’s Action Thriller Struggles to Recover from Negative Buzz
The journey for Baby John, the action thriller starring Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh, has come to an unfortunate standstill at the domestic box office. Directed by Kalees, the film, which was initially expected to be a major hit, is now struggling to stay afloat after suffering from poor reviews and an almost non-existent revival in audience interest.
After a disappointing second weekend, Baby John’s box office earnings have been steadily declining.
Despite being marketed as a high-octane action thriller, the film’s collections barely crossed the 1 crore mark on day 12. On Saturday, it earned just 0.75 crore, and by the 12th day of its release, it could only manage 0.85 crore—clearly signaling that its performance at the ticket counter is on a downward spiral.
The film, made on a staggering budget of ₹160 crores, has only managed to recover about 24% of its production cost so far, bringing its total collections in India to a meager ₹38.50 crores. While industry experts had initially speculated that the film could end its run with a domestic total of around ₹60 crores, that goal now seems increasingly unlikely.
With its failure to connect with audiences and its dwindling box office numbers, Baby John now stands as one of the biggest disappointments of the year. Its inability to recover even a fraction of its massive budget highlights the unpredictable nature of filmmaking, where even star power and grand action set pieces can’t always guarantee success.
At this rate, the film’s chances of turning profitable are becoming slimmer with each passing day. The stark reality now is that Baby John may not even come close to covering its production costs, leaving both the cast and crew to reflect on what went wrong in a project that promised much but has faltered at the crucial juncture.
